Case Study

L-Shaped Oak Garage Building

Broadoak Buildings were asked to design and build a garage incorporating a large, closed parking area. The client also required an internal horse tack & feed room with home office accommodation on the first floor.

After a design consultation to fully understand the client’s requirements, Broadoak designed a large L-shaped oak-framed building taking into account the client’s existing property to ensure that the garage blended into its surroundings. Because of the garage’s proximity to a number of established trees, Broadoak recommended it was built on a structurally reinforced raft rather than standard footings. This was approved by the local authority who were happy with the sympathetic nature of the design and, together with building regulations for a fire escape, Broadoak were able to help the project through planning without any holdups.

We are extremely pleased with our new building. The oak helps it looks beautiful and it is exactly what we asked for. The entire project ran very smoothly thanks to Broadoak who were very professional, and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend them.

A Broadoak project manager oversaw the entire build process, making sure that everything was completed to the very highest standards. An internal staircase to the first floor office and shower room was created to make effective use of the indoor space and Velux windows were used to provide a large amount of light. The interior decoration and fittings were finished to the same high standards Broadoak insist upon for all their buildings.
